Motorola Droid X Review Featuring Accessories for Survival

The Motorola Droid X is the fourth droid branded phone for Verizon Wireless and Motorola’s eleventh Google android based smartphone. The 4.3” display along with the surface area makes the Droid X the largest phone available in the US today. The included battery delivers more than eight hours of talk time with the ability to purchase an even larger extended battery will be available as an add-on accessory. The touch screen display allows the keyboard to be improved by the new Swype text entry; this allows the user write words quickly without picking up your finger. The Droid X comes equipped with three microphones; two are used for noise cancellation so even in extremely loud areas the capability to hear the person on the other end, and them hear you, isn’t an issue. The speakerphone works quite well, its loud enough to use outdoors with clear communications.

The Droid X offers a single interface to sign into various different accounts at the same time such as, Google, Yahoo Mail, Microsoft Exchange, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and photo sharing services among others. Google and Microsoft Exchange calendars can get included, and your address book also mixes in with Facebook, Twitter and your MySpace friends. You can click into a contact card and will then be able to see all of your friend’s updates. The Droid X has a Blur universal inbox which shows your Face book , MySpace and Twitter as e-mails causing them to mix with your other messages; Blur is not something that you are able to remove from the phone and can sometimes slow down the performance or cause the occasion freeze of the device.

Droid X users will receive Android 2.2 and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 with an update in the later part of the summer. Once the update is released the Flash Player will allow the users to use to experience applications and content including gamies, ecommerce, music, video, audio, animations etc. The phone can rent and buy movies from Blockbuster that play on the phone’s screen and also offer a updated NFL app which will allow the streaming of live games to the phone. Google CEO, Eric Schmidt said “The Droid X expands our commitment to mobile video.” The HDMI output allows for the connection and play back media in HD to your TV as well.

The pre-sale on the Droid X begins June 25 and the smartphone will be sold in stores beginning July 15 for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement. In addition, current Verizon Wireless customers who have contracts ending by the end of 2010 can upgrade to the Droid X without any penalty.
